Potential delay?

Minardi
By Cathal
March 30 2005
With the new car nearer completion, originally attended for the third race of the season at the Bahrain G.P. now extended till the San Marino G.P. in Imola, Minardi will finally have their 2005 spec engine from cosworth.

The TJ2005 which is a cool 11kg lighter, along with their new completely rebuilt car.

This will be a massive boost for the team but the speculation that the car is taking longer than planned to build with the unexpected work that had to be made to the 2004 specification car compliant with the new rules and the PSO5 is pending gearbox castings (supposedly) and of course, testing which will more than likely be all done at G.P. weekends.

Meanwhile Gabriele Tredozi, present technical director of Minardi is working on the old spec PSO4B. This comes as a surprise as you'd think they would focus on getting the new car ready as soon as possible but its rumored that Gabriele Tredozi is working on the old-spec car to allow it to be fitted with the new cosworth engine the TJ2005, as the new engine has a 90 degree angle compared to the old 72 engine in the CRM3. This obviously would mean the Minardi may push back the launch of the PSO5 till later in the year. This is not what Minardi need as with the lack of development in the Jordan camp, this is the best time to leap ahead of the Jordan's.
