After finishing a very creditable fifth position in the championship last year, and suffering numerous technical problems, Craig took to the circuit on his newly prepared factory backed Parkalgar Honda CBR600 machine.
Settling down after the winter break, Craig built up his confidence over the three days of testing his 2008 Honda CBR600. Comfortable on the bike, Craig not only got all the suspension and electrics set up perfectly, he completed testing by breaking the lap record for the circuit in the 600cc class.
Although his machine was not up to the expected 2008 specifications, and claiming the lap record on an old race tyre, Craig said, “Things could have not gone any better than this, and to set the lap record on an old race tyre has given me even more confidence for the first race and for the whole season ahead.
“My machine is stronger and faster in every department than my machine from last year. Having now returned to the UK, we can enhance the engine and bring the bike up to the full 2008 specifications.
“I couldn’t be happier with the performance of my bike and team. I am looking forward to the season’s first race, and after the relaxing break over the winter I am fitter than I have ever been, and feel confident that we can challenge for the title this year”.
It’s certainly a new beginning for Craig, as his performance last year was not up to his standards, suffering numerous technical problems - his fifth position finish did not show his true potential. Whilst talking to Craig you can hear in his voice he is ready to go, and will certainly put up a strong fight to attain his goal.
As previously mentioned, Craig will be competing against some strong opposition, not only from the rest of the established field but also from seasoned British racer Chris ‘The Stalker’ Walker, alongside runner up in the British Superbike series Irishman Jonathan Rea, and former R6 Cup winner Tommy Hill.
Whatever the final outcome you can rest assured that Craig will be out there giving his all and flying the British flag for all his fans back home and abroad.
