The eagerly awaited new season of British Superbike competition was due to kick start at the weekend, with the first meeting of 2008 on the Grand Prix circuit at Brands Hatch, in Kent. Would it be Honda or the new Ducati, or would there be renewed challenges from Suzuki, Yamaha and/or Kawasaki? Or would it be all about the weather?

There were some clues but, in brief, unseasonable weather put further answers on hold. Significant snowfall on Sunday was sufficient for the races to be cancelled, and they have been rescheduled for the same circuit on the 11th of May.

Practice and qualifying had gone ahead, and this is how they will line up when they return to Brands next month - with some extra biographical details on the riders: BSB début year in italics
