Matt Winstanley heads Motard Masters entry

Rising star Matt Winstanley heads the British entry for the opening round of the ‘Motard Masters Winter Supermoto Series’ at Three Sisters, on 22 and 23 January.

The Bracken KTM rider, who is preparing for a Supermoto 2 world championship challenge this season, will be keen to do well, as he will make the short journey from Abram to the circuit, which is near Wigan.

A host of other top Supermoto and road race competitors will also be taking part in the first of three rounds. John McGuinness, the fastest man ever around the Isle of Man TT circuit, and a former British Superbike star, will be racing the Plasauto DCR Husaberg. Switzerland’s Dani Müller, who was last year’s 450cc winter champion and has won numerous Swiss titles, heads up the WIRE Yamaha squad.

Winstanley will be joined among the Bracken KTM entrants by Ady Smith, a former British enduro champion, ISDE gold medal winner and 2001 NORA British Supermoto Champion. Alice Racing KTM’s new signing, Leighton Haigh, is a former beach racing champion, and multiple British NORA Supermoto Champion. TM UK’s Irish Supermoto Champion Greg Kinsella will also be taking part, alongside Belgium’s Fred Fiorentino, the 2002 and 2004 Mettet Superbiker winner and regular S1 top ten finisher - who is racing for DCR Husaberg. Top German privateer Jochan Jasinski is among the entries, as is Czech star Petr Vorlicek, who will be racing for MW Racing of St Helens. And P&O 2004 Irish Winter Series Champion Davy McKee has also signed up.

Three Sisters will also see the début of the new S4 class, where junior riders will race on 85cc machines. The action gets under way at 10am on Saturday, 22nd January, with free practice, qualifying and heat races going on until 4.30pm. The action recommences at 10am on Sunday, with warm-up, finals, last chance races and super final going on until 4.30pm.
