New McLaren MP4/20 unveiled
By Josh Barnett
January 24 2005
McLaren launched and tested their new 2005 challenger at Barcelona today.

The MP4/20 was unveiled at the circuit today before Raikkonen took to the track for the first time. He was joined by Pedro de la Rosa and Alex Wurz, both of whom were testing the older MP4/18b to evaluate and compare the old parts.

Kimi Raikkonen said that he was happy with his first run in the new car but did say that it was to soon, after just a few laps, to draw too many conclusions.

The aerodynamic modifications have led to the most visble differences on the car espiecially with the new aero regulations. The car was developed in the Design Office and Wind Tunnel in the new McLaren Technology Centre, the first McLaren to have been.

Of course it takes to major parts in F1, the chassis development and the engine development, the part Mercedes does. The car manufacturer has had a new challenge this year with the rrival of two-race engines.

Of course all Raikkonen is concerned about is getting the V10 to last for the first three races unlike last year:

Australian GP: Blown engine
Malaysian GP: Blown engine
Bahrain GP: Blown Engine

It's a nose only a mother could love (or Adrian Newey!)
