Massa Quickest in First Day of Jerez Test

Team SAUBER PETRONAS started its three-day test at the Circuito Permanente de Jerez today. Felipe Massa covered 60 laps in chassis C23-02 to set today´s best time of 1:17.498s. Tomorrow Jacques Villeneuve will take over the driving.

Team SAUBER PETRONAS started its three-day test at the Circuito Permanente de Jerez today. Felipe Massa covered 60 laps in chassis C23-02 to set today´s best time of 1:17.498s. Tomorrow Jacques Villeneuve will take over the driving.
Weather conditions were poor and changeable all day but it did not stop Massa from setting the quickest lap for his second straight test. The team continues to gain valuable data on their new Michelin tyres and continuing aerodynamic work.
"The mixed weather was not very helpful today and under such conditions I normally wouldn´t say that it was a positive day," race engineer Giampaolo Dall'Ara rued. "But even we were not able to run as many laps as planned, we could still learn a lot and the day was finally productive as the quick lap times show. We further adapted the car to the Michelin tyres and did some aerodynamic data validation as well as worked on the mechanical set-up of the C24."
Felipe Massa will be headed to Paris, France following the test to compete in this weekend's Race of Champions. Jacques Villeneuve will make his return to the cockpit of the SAUBER C23 for the remainder the week's testing.
"The next two days Jacques will further acclimatise to the team and the car. In addition, we have scheduled more aerodynamic tests and will continue to work with Michelin."
