After the last Spanish GP, in which Alonso was able to beat one of the mighty Ferrari 2003-GA to finish second behind Michael Schumacher, many f1 insiders have declared that Alonso could be an interesting property for any of the big three teams (Ferrari, McLaren and Williams).
However, Renault has all the intention of keeping the young Spaniard and Briatore has been quite vocal about this interest. recently he told The Sunday Mirror:
"Even Ferrari don't have the money to get Alonso. He is staying with us forever. Well, okay, you can't say forever but he will definitely be here for a few more years." The outspoken Italian said.
Flavio Briatore also declared that his admiration of Alonso is so deep that he plans to build their F1 team around him:
"We always knew he was a special talent and people can see that now. We are building the team around him."
Alonso has been highly rated by mane people inside and outside of the team. Briatore has followed in that trend:
"There is no doubt that he has the ability to become world champion," He said. "You cannot say if he will be better than Schumacher, all drivers are different. But it's like watching the same movie 10 years on."
Alonso has received praise going from his teammates Trulli and McNish to Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone and many are calling him the future Michael Schumacher due to his maturity and driving techniche.
