A race full of events for the Renault F1 team saw Jarno Trulli score one point today at the Austrian GP. Fernando Alonso did a very strong race but had to abandon after his car broke down.
The race was won by Michale Schumacher despite loosing more than 10 seconds because of a fuel rig problem in his first pit stop.

Kimi Raikkonen finished 2nd followed closely by Rubens Barrichello who finished 3rd.

The Renault F1 team continues to score points as Jarno Trulli was able to maintain Pizzonia and keep his 8th place to score one point.

Trulli who had an eventful race that even included a spin was able to maintain Renault scoring at every race this season.

"A tough race, definitely," the Italian said. "The drivers ahead of me were slower and the team decided to change strategy. Thanks to that, I was able to climb up again but somehow the car wasn't quite right after my first pit stop and I just couldn't improve as I wanted. Eighth place and one point is not too bad but I had expected much better from this race."

Fernando Alonso who started from the pits after making a mistake in yesterday’s qualifying was able to fight his way back to 5th place before an engine break down so him got off at the Castrol Kurve.

A great race by the Spaniard that was able to amend his mistake of yesterday and fight for the points. If it would not have been for the break down he could have finished up to 4th.

"It's the first time I haven't finished a race this season, and hopefully the last, however, today we have proved to be competitive on this circuit which is not the best for us, so I am very optimistic for all the races to come."

Flavio Briatore, Renault F1 boss, was not happy for the results of the team today:

"A weekend that was marked by a series of problems and that ended in a very disappointing way for us. The only consolation is the one point we scored which makes us keep third position in the Championship. Now we have to focus our efforts and make sure that this doesn't happen again."

The Renault team now looks to Monaco where the hopes are high to achieve a great result.
