In an interview for renaultf1.com Alonso declared that he is not expecting any extra pressure from racing at Magny-Cours in a Renault:
"No, not really. It doesn't bring any added pressure, either for me or the team. We are always doing our very best, regardless of the context. This race will be a big event for Renault, and especially for the guys from Viry-Châtillon. There would be no better place to get a good result than Magny-Cours! However, Formula 1 is always difficult: it's impossible to make any firm predictions." He said.
Alonso likes the track but he can not say if the configuration will perfectly fit his car:
"I think it's a good track. As for whether we will perform well there, it's hard to say. In any case, I usually enjoy the French Grand Prix weekend: the circuit is good, just like the weather! For me, the best parts of the track are the two quick chicanes: the car needs to be very good at quick changes of direction. It is a special feeling for the driver through here." He added. "The end of the lap is very different. From what I can see, they should help overtaking, and the new chicane just before the start-finish line looks pretty interesting!"
