Dear motor racing enthusiasts,
The 2007 Formula One season is history. Congratulations to Ferrari's Kimi Räikkönen who secured the World Championship title in a race at a Sao Paulo that couldn't have been much more dramatic.
For our BMW Sauber F1 Team, the race in Brazil represented a truly great finish to an excellent season. Thanks to Robert and Nick finishing fifth and sixth we succeeded in reaching the 100-point mark. At the end of the day, we almost tripled our 2006 points crop. With this success, we have created a good basis for the coming season.
Consequently, our upshot is an extremely positive one: we are very happy with our second season and can be justly proud of our achievements - no matter if it comes to our design and development work executed in the off-season or to our development pace during the season. In our first two seasons we have realised our ambitious goals. We proved to be the third power on the grid from the first race of the season and occasionally we were even able to battle it out with the top two teams - securing two podium finishes. In the stats, we are ranked runners-up. However, this isn't important for us. We are well aware that there still are four cars going faster than ours and we want to beat them out there on the track. It's our goal for the 2008 season to close the gap to the cars ahead and gain our maiden GP win. And as I see it, we are on a good way.
I would like to thank the drivers and the entire team - not only here at the track but particularly the staff working in Munich and Hinwil. We will celebrate this result with the team. At the same time, the Monday following the season finale represents the start of the 2008 season for us.
Sincerely
Mario Theissen
