Massive workload for BMW drivers in session 2
By BMW Sauber F1 Team
May 9 2008
In the second practice session for the Turkish Grand Prix, held at the "Istanbul Speed Park", the BMW Sauber F1 Team pairing executed an extensive preparation programme. By the end of the day, Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld had completed a total of 60 laps.

At the beginning of session two, a slight drizzle made for wet conditions, consequently, the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers and their fellow competitors waited around 20 minutes before going out for their first stints.

During the course of the rest of the session, however, Nick and Robert were extremely busy and carried out a massive preparation programme. Robert completed four stints totalling 29 laps and on his 25th lap the Pole set his personal best time of 1:28.431 minutes to finish sixth on the time sheets.

Nick was slightly busier than his team-mate and completed 31 laps over the course of his four stints. The German was about four tenths of a second slower than his team-mate but demonstrated the competitiveness of the BMW Sauber F1.08, nevertheless. He clocked his personal best time of 1:28.817 minutes on his 24th lap, the last flying lap of an eleven-lap long-run. At the end of the day, the German finished tenth.

In the third free practice session on Saturday morning (11:00 to 12:00hrs local time, 09:00 to 10:00hrs BST), the BMW Sauber F1 Team will complete its set-up work and tyre evaluations for qualifying and the race.
