In Monaco, however, wet conditions represent a particular
threat as the track doesn't allow for any mistakes. "Monaco represents
an exceptional challenge," explains Willy Rampf, Technical Director of
the BMW Sauber F1 Team. "Here, even the slightest mistake can bring a
sudden end to a driver's race."
According to the forecasters, the rain probability for qualifying and
the race amounts to 60 to 90 percent. Nick Heidfeld stresses that a wet
track can have a major impact on the course of the race. "Should it be
raining, there is a big chance of seeing a surprise winner on the
podium," says the German.
Nick continues: "I also am anxious to see how the drivers will cope
without traction control here. We have already witnessed several
mistakes in the previous races. In the case of rain - something we
haven't experienced this season to date - the Monaco race will
definitely be a real thriller."
