- Typical British: The tests the BMW Sauber F1 Team carried out last
week at Silverstone were hampered by the typically wet British weather,
and now, heavy rain is expected to be a factor during the British Grand
Prix. For tomorrow, the BBC's weather forecasters have predicted rain
to fall at Silverstone during the course of the race.
- 168 laps at Silverstone: On Saturday, Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica
added another 70 laps to the 98 they completed on Friday at the
"Silverstone Circuit". This means that the BMW Sauber F1 Team pairing
covered a total mileage of 863,688 kilometres, on the 5.141-kilometre
track.
- Young guns on the big stage: During the course of the British GP
weekend, the Formula One drivers aren't the only ones to prove their
skills. The 29 young talents contesting the Formula BMW Europe also
will race at the historic "Silverstone Circuit". In the qualifying
sessions for the fifth and sixth rounds of the season, Ramon Pineiro
proved to be invincible. The Spaniard secured the pole positions for
both races.
- Kubica just can't believe it: On the eve of the ninth round of the
season, with 46 points to his tally, Robert is still in a promising
position in the battle for the title. A situation the 23-year old even
would never have dared dream of at the beginning of the season. "Had
somebody told me at that point in time that I would secure a pole
position, win a race and temporarily hold the lead in the Drivers'
Championship - I wouldn't have believed them," admitted the Pole.
