Formula One has already staged eleven races this season, meaning a
Formula One driver could theoretically have completed 708 laps by the
summer break. No driver has actually achieved this figure, but two have
come very close - the two BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers.
With 704 laps completed, Nick heads the Formula One reliability
rankings ahead of his Polish team-mate, who has 676 laps under his
belt. This means the two BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers have completed a
total of 1380 laps - far more than their closest competitors in this
regard, McLaren (1317) and Ferrari (1299).
The consistency of the BMW Sauber F1.08 is a decisive factor in the BMW
Sauber F1 Team's dramatic rise into the top three teams in Formula One.
The team from Munich and Hinwil has not suffered a single technical
fault in any of the races in 2008 so far. In the meantime, the team has
picked up World Championship points in 29 Grands Prix in succession - a
sequence stretching back as far as the first race of last season, on
18th March 2007.
