- By crossing the line in 1:36.498 minutes, Nick set the third-fastest race lap at Shanghai. "I controlled my pace but on the final lap I accelerated again. Consequently, I clocked the third-fastest race lap, just 1.7 tenths of a second slower than Lewis Hamilton," he said following the race.
- In the Chinese Grand Prix, the BMW Sauber F1 Team continued a truly remarkable streak of success: for the 34th consecutive race, at least one of the Munich and Hinwil based squad's drivers scored World Championship points. This is currently the longest streak of success in Formula One - and the third longest in the sport's history.
- Despite having finished sixth to score three World Championship points, Robert's chances of winning the World Championship title are now at an end. Prior to the season finale, held at Sao Paulo, the number of World Championship contenders has been reduced to two: Lewis Hamilton (McLaren, 94 points) and Felipe Massa (Ferrari, 87).
- Reliability remains the key advantage: with 17 rounds of the 2008 World Championship season contested, the BMW Sauber F1 Team remains the only team at the pinnacle of motor racing this year that hasn't encountered a single retirement due to a technical failure. Consequently, the 2056 race laps completed by Nick and Robert represent the record mileage of the season.
- Both BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers succeeded in gaining a lot of ground in the Chinese Grand Prix. Robert gained five positions in the race, while Nick, who had been ninth on the grid, finished fifth.
- By finishing sixth at Shanghai, Robert has now scored 75 World Championship points in the 2008 season, with Nick's tally adding up to 60 points. Should the German succeed in scoring just two points at Interlagos, he will have experienced the best season of his Formula One career to date.
