Poker and bowling to relax
By BMW Sauber F1 Team
February 26 2009
Robert Kubica is regarded as a very focussed Formula One driver, who invests almost all his energy into work. However, even the BMW Sauber F1 Team driver needs to shut down and relax every now and then. The Pole reveals how he spends his free time.

Away from the racetrack of this world, Robert likes to shift down a couple of gears and looks to less active hobbies for a distraction: poker, snooker and bowling are among his favourite alternative sports.

"They don't compare with Formula One at all. That's why I like them," Robert explains. "In my job, I spend a lot of time with a lot of action, high speed and noise. By contrast, poker and bowling are quite steady. You don't have to put in too much effort. I can completely switch off my brain and relax, especially when I an bowling."

As soon as his schedule allows it, Robert is often to be found at the bowling alley. Even here, the competitive sportsman is fascinated by competition. Leisure bowling is simply not enough for him: "During the winter break I took part in some tournaments," says Robert. "I have some friends who play at very high level in Europe. I really enjoy playing with them."
