No, no, no Peter said it was a surprise. My sources indicate Mika Hakkinen has signed for a year with an option for an additional 2 years.

Re: Stay tuned tomorrow...
You better prefer it this way. I wouldn't expect any announcement on the weekend this weekend.

HOWEVER, regarding the 2nd driver, I have been told something that is know open for the public: Roger Benoit, the Swiss reporter who first unveiled that it would be De la Rosa, still says it looks good to him.

We have complementary info, bu as we said, for the good of the parties, we will better keep it for ourselves for now.

Re: Stay tuned tomorrow...
Well it's becoming obvious this decision has reservations
It must not be unanimous or it would have been announced.
Another weekend of no news.
I sure hope they are still considering Nick or someone who offers some pizzaz to the line up that has an outside chance of moving forward through the field on occasion, and staying there for the finish.

Well if money isn't absolutely critical, I really don't see the logic in hiring DLR over Heidfeld. DLR is 38, and hasn't raced for ages, whilst Heidfled, together with Kubica, equally hauled BMW Sauber 2 placed higher than it deserved in last years constructors.

It is no between Heidfeld and De la Rosa, though. Heidfeld is heading to Renault, while at Sauber it's between PDLR and Fisichella.

Things are changing quite dramatically lately, but you will have to wait to see the final development

Quoting our last tweet:

Autoport quotes Button saying De la Rosa will be in charge of the first Mclaren shake down in Valencia. Hummm...

Re: Stay tuned tomorrow...
So what happened with Nick and Sauber? He is by far the better driver than GF or PDLR.

GF would suggest Ferrari is offering possibly money or cheaper/free engines or track time and back-up plan if FM is not in a position to race.

Re: Stay tuned tomorrow...
Funding is definitely an issue. And not only for Sauber, Nick is heading to Renault because they will have more money -to develop the car, I'm not talking about salary-.

Nick, as far as I know, doesn't have sponsors, either.

Ferrari doesn't want to suffer again the Badoer problem, and wants it's 3rd driver to be totally ready if needed.
GF is being supported (aka getting favorable pressure) not only by Ferrari, though winking smiley

You will learn all when things are over and confirmed.

It seems quite clearly that Monday will be the news day, finally

The Swiss newspaper Blick reports that Giancarlo Fisichella flew briefly from Ferrari's winter media event in the Italian Dolomites to Sauber's Hinwil headquarters last Thursday.

The newspaper suggested that Sauber is under pressure from its new power train supplier Ferrari to give 2010 reserve driver Fisichella, 37, the vacant race seat.

Probably they are reading us winking smiley It goes to prove taht we have strong sources, and well placed.

Actually the writer, Roger Benoit, has strong links with Peter Sauber, but I doubt he can equal the sources we have in respect to the drivers' side winking smiley

Announcement is due very soon, but given how messy have things been in the last few days, it wouldn't be strange that it delays. I would put my bet on Monday, or at worst Tuesday, though

PS: actually, from my understanding Fisico didn't fly, but went by car,a nd it wasn't just a brief visit

Are you positive Nick is accepted at Renault, or is that speculation?

Re: Stay tuned tomorrow...
I can tell you Heidfeld is in advanced discussions with Renault, and is currently on pole for the seat. That said, there are still other contenders. It is not just speculation
