For many months now the worlds media has been full of speculation surrounding the ownership of the Italian outfit, many names have been linked with the team including 7-time F1 World Champion Michael Schumacher. Both Gerhard Berger and Mateschitz have until now denied plans to sell the team.
The new Concorde Agreement will rule out the use of customer cars from the start of the 2010 season and the Red Bull owner says he will not continue to back the team. He told Swiss publication Motorsport Aktuell "It is not a big secret that we have put Toro Rosso on the market.
"For the start of 2010 there will be a rule change and there will be no more synergy regarding design and construction of cars between Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso."
He has said nothing about who he may be in talks with about buying the outfit only that it will be put into safe hands.
People linked with a possible take-over so far are A1GP Chairman Tony Teixeira and Roustam Tariko who was involved with Eddie Irvine in a bid to buy a Formula One team many years ago.
