Force Fans Predictions Competition
By Karl King March 13 2008
Force Fans is pleased to announce the launch of our 2008 Predictions Competition. The competition will be run from our message board with predictions to be posted on the relevant threads there. You will, therefore, need to be a registered SportNetwork member to participate for the chance to win a prize. We have yet to finalise the prize but will announce details later in the year.

If you aren't yet registered on SportNetwork, it's quick and easy to do so right here.

The competition will run all through the year, with participants posting their predictions for various outcomes of the year's grand prix.

The rules and more details can be found below. If you want to join in the fun, head over to our message board and click on the thread 'Force Fans Prediction Competition - Round 1' and post your predictions.

Hopefully we can have some good fun with this, and someone will win a good prize when I get it sorted!

Here's what's going to happen:

1. All picks must be submitted and will be only accepted as valid before qualifying begins for the GP. You can edit your picks up until 30 minutes before qualifying. Any predictions submitted after this will be invalid and you won’t be able to predict for that GP weekend. In cases of dispute, I will use the time Sportnetwork posted your message and compare it to the advertised start time of qualifying.

2. Your most recent prediction for each race within the time limit will be used. If you wish to change your prediction, I would prefer it if you edited the post containing your prediction, though adding a post to the end of the prediction thread will also be acceptable.

3. The things to be predicted are:
- Pole Position: 2 points
- Race Winner: 10
- 2nd: 8
- 3rd: 6
- 4th: 5
- 5th: 4
- 6th: 3
- 7th: 2
- 8th: 1
- Fastest Lap: 2 points.
- First Retirement: 1 (if there is a tie e.g. three cars take themselves out at the first corner, anyone predicting any of the drivers who tied for first retirement will receive the point).
- Correct finishing position (including DNF) of the Force India drivers: 2 points each for correct position, 1 point for each DNF.
- 1 bonus point for correctly predicting a points score for a specific Force India driver, and 1 extra bonus point for choosing the correct points-scoring position for that driver.

Here is a base template which you can use to list your predictions for each race:

- Pole Position:
- Race Winner:
- 2nd:
- 3rd:
- 4th:
- 5th:
- 6th:
- 7th:
- 8th:
- Fastest Lap:
- First Retirement:
- Finishing Position of Car 20 (Adrian Sutil):
- Finishing Position of Car 21 (Giancarlo Fisichella):

4. All predictions above must be exactly correct. Should any driver pull out before the race weekend, his replacement is not automatically substituted in the predictions. You can edit your choice as per usual earlier than 30 minutes before qualifying.

5. The prize for the winner will be announced later in the season. The prize for everyone else will be enjoying competing with each other.

6. In the first instance, Alianora La Canta will adjudicate and organise. In extraordinary circumstances, Kinger HRF1 will be consulted. His decision is final.

7. The qualifying and race results first published by formula1.com will be used to judge the predictions placed. No appeal to organiser's decision which is final.

8. Retirement means not finishing the race after the race has started. So any retirement resulting from not starting the race does not fall under this description. The retirement can be due to an accident, mechanical or judicial reason.

9. Any additional rules can be added to aid clarity but not to change the predictions format and the points as and when deemed necessary.

10. During the following week of each Grand Prix, all scores will be tallied and updates made to the competition standings. At the end of the 2008 season, the people who are 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the competition will be announced.

11. If there are any problems, please let Alianora La Canta know and she'll try to sort it out. Otherwise, enjoy yourself and good luck.
