Fisi leads Rubens & Sutil

After a run of disappointing races the Force India F1 team's press release heading into this weekend's French GP set a target which showed the team were going back to basics - wanting a two car finish. Today at the Circuit de Nevers they achieved that goal and it was the first time since the first race of the season that they have done so.

However the team probably hoped they'd achieve it in a bit more style. After eventually starting 17th and 18th on the grid after Rubens Barrichello and Nico Rosberg were sent to the back with penalties, the FI lads struggled through the race to no avail. They took the last two positions (18th and 19th due to the retirement of Jenson Button) and finished a lap down on the winner, Felipe Massa.

Fisi, who has looked faster than his team mate all weekend said, "Our target from today's race was to get to the end of the race and we did, so I am pleased from this respect as we have not finished the last three races.

"We had more reliability from the car but the pace was not as good as we would have liked at times. It was better than yesterday, but we need a step forward to move on.

"I'm looking forward to the Silverstone test now where we have some new parts that should deliver some more improvements"

Adrian added, "Both myself and Giancarlo had a very aggressive strategy to try to make up some more places in the race, but we also needed to have some luck. Unfortunately nothing happened in the race to other people so I had lots of times when I had to move over to let cars on the lead lap go past and got out of the rhythm.

"This was disappointing, seeing the cars passing you when you are lapping well. In the middle stint the pace was OK, it was just the strategy didn't work out in the end."

Mike Gascoyne brings some optimism that things may be slightly better for the British GP in two weeks time: "...it's good to get a double finish and to get some reliability. We now move on to Silverstone for the test where we have a large range of improvements to bring the car on."

Well you summed it up pretty well Kinger.
The race itself was typical for Magny Course, it was a pitty it didn't rain like it was supposed to. Ah well our car was lacking some pace, mainly because other teams have had developments to their car.
But our big development will be shown to the world on tuesday, Mike Gascoyne was talking about a few tenths, we don't know how much that is.
But in Hungary the car will be 0.4 seconds (due to the nature of the circuit) faster because of the Seamless shift transmission.
So I'll expect them to be 0.6-0.8 seconds faster then they are now within three races.
Which might mean finally getting into Q2!!!

sounds positive for the team....i have a feeling that from now on Fif1 will perform better.
