during the F1 break I review driver/ team progress
By nGO
August 15 2006
F1 takes a summer break, but how has the class of 06' done this term? I review their progress and grade them. Check how well or bad your fav driver/ team done. Each driver has been asigned in pairs at halls with names such as renault or ferrari or etc. each with varying quality and facilities.

Name: F. Alonso  Hall: Renault

Report: Alonso has been emaculate in his racecraft until lately, Alonso is in a fortunate position and needs to watch his behaviour which has become unacceptable. He has scored 100 points and leads the championship although worryingly he is losing his way, needs to make sure he does not take actions comprimising his championship. Tell Alonso to use this break to relax and regain his composure.

Grade: A- (A minus)

Target: Calm down, you are the champ.

------------

Name: M. Schumacher  Hall: Ferrari

report: Michael started off on the wrong foot and to my suprise has been making giant leaps of progress as the season goes on. He needs to watch his racecraft, being class monitor he should be a role model student so his bahaviour is not acceptable (one student has resign from his group). Only 9 points behind Alonso so work hard but do not be devious, win but don't lose your humanity in the process, think about it this break.

Grade: A - - (A minus minus)

Target: Don't lose your Humanity and respect

-----------

Name: F. Massa  Hall: Ferrari

Report: This young gun has shown good speed, learns quick although still has much to learn. Massa has been more consistant then ever before with 52 points...still slightly worrying is his glimmer of erraticness every once in a while but he is turning out to be a fine lad.

Grade: B

Target: Show Ferrari why you deserve to stay in 07, on the race track.

-----------

Name: G. Fisichella  Hall: Renault

report: Renault is the winning team at the moment so it is strange that he has won 1 race while his team mate has won 5. Some bad luck contributed to this unfavourable although overall he lacks consistancy, one day he is the class of the field so to speak, another he races like a duck taped to a smelly washing machine.

Grade: C+

Target: staying at renault in 07 so show you are serious championship material these last five races.

-----------

Name: M. Webber  Hall: Williams

report: One has to feel slightly sorry for Webber, a driver who has not done much wrong, has put in great performances only to fail due to his team. Unsuprisingly he has filled in the transfer form, however it is unclear where he will be next year at this moment in time. His 6 points do not reflect how well he has done this season.

Grade: B

Target: Think happy thoughts

-----------

Name: N. Rosberg  Hall: Williams

Report: Rosberg's first year in F1 has been one of...many adventures. He became a hero when he drove from the back after a first lap collision to finish in the points and set the fastest lap in Bahrain. Since then he has shown youthful erraticness, but i'm unsure how much of it is actually due to youthfulness. Some promise but so far I do not think the risk by Williams to take him has payed off, however we shall know next year.

Grade: C

Target: Will stay in Williams for 07, so he should learn and improve. Must show improvement.

-----------

Name: Takuma Sato  Hall: Super Aguri

Report: Some may have expected crashes every other race from this all or nothing racer, although there has been the occasional accident this has not been the case. Despite driving what is essentially a four year chassis Sato has managed some impressive performances with electric starts. The true test will be whether or not he is capable of moving up the grid with this newest team.

Grade: C

Target: To help develop and drive a car away from the back of the grid. Make people remember you for something better then being a reject of 2005.

----------

Name: Sakon Yamamoto  Hall: Super Aguri

Report: Yamamoto was entered into F1 with what should be enough time to be on a similar pace to his teammate. Although in the practice sessions this has occasionally been the case, so far he has not proven to be a better choice then putting Montagny in the car. There is still hope as he has five more races to show he belongs in F1, and he should have an easier job then the two previous Aguri drivers, since he will be using better machinary.

Grade: U (Unclassified) Having not completed more then 1% of the GP he has competed in, objective grading is not possible.

Target: He must string together an incident free weekend and complete a grand prix.

----------

Name: Christian Klien  Hall: Redbull

Report: Klien has been unlucky at times but overall he has not raced at the same level as his team-mate Coulthard. He already knows the chances for him to remain in F1 next year are low as Redbull has signed Webber. Never in his F1 career has he absolutely sparkled, however at times he has shown that he is an able young driver, capable of solid results.

Grade: D+

Target: Klien pretty much has nothing to lose since he will not be with Redbull next year and the chances of him getting an F1 seat elsewhere are low. Because of this he should race like he has nothing to lose and show Redbull they have made a mistake by not signing him.

-----------

Name: David Coulthard  Hall: RedBull

Report: Having left Mclaren, it seems Coulthard has a new leese of life. two years it was not certain whether or not he would remain in F1, now with Redbull and their strong team it would not be silly to say they stand a good chance of breaking into the top 5, all the ingredients of success is there. Coulthard has been Redbulls ace, giving then results from the very start and putting in consistantly good performances. However, due unknown causes he has turned into somewhat of a moaning nanny, spewing complaints every other race.

Grade: B

Target: Continue what he is doing as his racing has been superb, but should things not go his way he should occasionally withdraw from moaning and take the misfortune like a man.

more to come in part two
