A review of the 2007 season
By Gunman November 11 2007
The start of the season was not easy. The presentation of the new car was delayed all the way to the first practice. But we soon learned that 2007 would be different than 2006. This time, we wouldn't be in the two last places all the time. For this season, the team's objective was to get at least one point.

But they finished the season with four points, a great improvement compared to last season. For most of the season, they were even ahead of their engine supplier, Honda. Last year, their rivals were Midland. But this year, the team went after bigger fish. No fan will forget the moment when Takuma Sato passed Fernando Alonso, the world champion, for points in Canada.

Unfortunately, the team was involved in the whole customer cars controversy. They also didn't have the budget to continue the development of the car, and so the team's performance was in decline all the way to the end. The saddest part was failing to score at Japan, something the team really wanted.

Regarding the drivers, most fans agree on the following: Takuma Sato is better than Davidson in races, while Davidson is better than Sato in practice and qualifying.

Takuma Sato was the one who scored all the points for Super Aguri. Sadly, Anthony Davidson didn't score a single point. But this doesn't mean that Davidson is inferior to Sato in any way. Davidson made some good qualifying sessions and he deserves another season in F1, even if he may leave the team.

Outside of the races, Super Aguri got a lot closer to the fans in 2007! They're finally launched a webshop to sell official merchandise in Europe. Super Aguri's  Media Communications Manager And Driver Liaison, Emma Victoria Bearpark, also launched a blog called EmmaBlog to give the fans a view of what's happening inside the team. Also, by doing this, the team acknowledged that it has fans all over the world and not just in Japan.

 SUMMARY

POSITIVES:

- The SA07 was a big improvement, compared to the SA06.

- Four points, baby! Last year, we had zero!

- Better approach to the fans, thanks to the new merchandise and the EmmaBlog.

- The team was clearly better than last year's rivals (known as Spyker in 2007, Midland in 2006, and Force India in 2008).

NEGATIVES

- Team's involvement in the customer car controversy.

- Failure to get a title sponsor.

- Low budget prevented further development of the car in mid-season.

- Rumored problems in relationship with Honda.

Until the start of the next season, we'll pay close attention to the big questions in the minds of all fans right now.
