Sato started his F1 career in 2002 at Jordan (now known as Force India). In that year, he finished 15th in the Drivers Championship with 3 points.
Then he became a test driver for Honda and was allowed to race in the final race of 2003, Japan, where he finished in 6th position.
2004 and 2005 were spent in BAR as a race driver. It was in 2004 that he achieved his best result ever: a third place at USA! However, his performance in 2005 was something he would probably want to forget.
In 2006, he joined the new Super Aguri. He spent most of the season driving the SA05, which was basically the Arrows car from 2002 upgraded just enough to follow 2006 regulations. The team later started using the SA06 and Sato showed the team's potential with a wonderful 10th place at Brazil.
Finally, 2007 was a really happy year for him. He managed to score 4 points in a team that always started in last place at 2006. No fan will ever forget how he passed world champion Fernando Alonso for better points.
So, happy birthday, Taku! We hope this year will be even better for you, with a lot more points.
