KV Racing Technology brought their drivers, Will Power & Oriol Servia: Conquest drivers Franck Perera & Enrique Bernoldi & Dale Coyne drivers Bruno Junqueria & Mario Moraes were also in attendance.
Missing were HVM with their newly signed driver, Ernesto Viso, and, suprisingly, ex-CCWS "powerhouse" team Newman-Haas-Lanign, with their drivers Justin Wilson and Graham Rahal. NHL publicly stated that their absence from the test was a result of not recieving enough parts for their new cars from the IRL as of yet to finish preparing for track time. They added that they have every intention to be at next week's test session at Homestead-Miami.
Only the KV drivers saw heavy track time on Wednesday, with Australia's Will Power setting the mark for the day with a best lap of 113.501. While the other drivers upped their lap count considerably on Thursday, it was KV's other driver, Oriol Servia, who notched the hot lap of the day with a 114.072 average. This top speed was better than the best posted two weeks ago by veteran IndyCar driver Tony Kanaan during the first Sebring test.
"Honestly, I don't think we should give that much importance to the lap times themselves just because there was just 12 hours of a thousand cars running here, so there's a lot of rubber," Servia said. "I am happy with the balance of the car. Yesterday, we tried some things and I didn't really like the car. But, today we tried some other things that really suit me and I like the car. We ended up fast. I'm very happy that both cars ran trouble-free over the two days. That's a big accomplishment."
As mentioned above, the next "make-up' test for the former CCWS teams will be at Homestead-Miami Speedway next week, just prior to next Saturday evening's season opener there.
