Profile: Oriol Servia
By Andrew Cutler April 1 2008
The son of former Spanish Rally champion Salvadore Servia, Oriol took to motorsports early on, having recieived his first off-road motorcycle at age two. Since then, his career has progressed seadily until he found himself in the CCWS. For 2008, he has joined the IndyCar Series.

After comming up through the karting ranks, Oriol spent 1996 & 1997 racing in various Formula 3 series. Although he didn't post any wins, he showed enough ability to land a seat in the Daytona Indy Lights series, which back then was the "feeder" series for CART. In 1999, his sophmore year, Oriol captured the series champioship on the strength of five runner-up finishes and three poles.

For 2000 Servia Moved up to the CART series, driving for PPI Motorsports. Driving for three teams over the first four years of his time in CART/CCWS, Oriol notched a number of top-ten finishes, but just couldn't manage to find his way into victory lane.

With the dissolution of CART and the formation of the CCWS after 2003, Servia moved to Dale Coyne Racing for 2004. After being released early in the 2005 season, he moved to Newman-Haas to replace the injured Bruno Junqueria and posted his first - and, to date, only - victory at Montreal late in the season.

Oriol would post three more podium finishes in 2006 & 2007, driving for PKV Racing and Forsythe. After the CCWS/ICS merger he signed with KV Racing Technology, the latest incarnation of PKV Racing.
