Another Chance

June 18 2008
After losing his seat at Conquest Racing due to sponsorship issues, Franck Perera has finally found his way back into a ride - in the Firestone Indy Lights Series. Franck will drive for the balance of the 2008 season for Guthrie Racing, starting this weekend at Iowa.

"I'm just excited to be back in the driver's seat," Perera said. "I'm very thankful to Guthrie Racing and my management company CJ Motorsport and I am going to do the best I can for the team."

While a run at this year's series championship is out of the question at this point, Perera hopes to use his time honing his oval racing skills. In return, his new teammates, Sean Guthrie, Logan Gomez and Mickey Gilbert, hope to refine their road racing techniques with Franck as their teacher. "I have a lot to learn," Perera said. "Sean and Logan are great on ovals so I know they can teach me some techniques and hopefully I can help them on road courses in return. I think together we can make it beneficial for all of us so we can improve all season long."

Taking part in an Indy Lights test session at Iowa on June 11th, Franck quickly showed impressive pace, posting the 5th fastest time out of 19 cars.
