Kanaan Wins At Richmond
By Andrew Cutler June 29 2008
Andretti/Green Racing's Tony Kanaan kept clear of all the mishaps (there were nine cautions) to find his way into victory lane last night for the first time since last September at Belle Isle. He led the first 1/4 & last 1/3 of the race. Teammate Marco Andretti also lead for nearly 90 laps.

Kanaan beat out Helio Castroneves & Scott Dixon, who came home in 2nd & 3rd. Tony & Helio both made small inroads into Scott's championship points lead.

"It was a tough race," Tony said afterwards. " I think we had a strong car. Marco did, too. We did split the strategies just to try to cover both bases, and finally the luck was on my side."

The biggest suprise of the night was Conquest Racing's Jaime Camara, who led for 44 laps during the first half of the 300 lap SunTrust Indy Challenge. He would crash out later on in the evening, but still salvaged a season-best 14th place finish. Also putting in strong runs last night were former CCWS drivers Oriol Servia, finishing 5th, & Justin Wilson, finishing 7th.
