A long-time fan favorite, Fisher recieved monetary gifts - some for as little as whatever the person had in their wallet at the time - to help defray the expenses occured while at Indy. Many of those who sent her a check by mail recieved a 'thank you" note from Sarah, accompanied by small peices of the wreckage from her collision.
Now we can happily report that Sarah Fisher Racing will indeed make appearances at the upcomming IndyCar races at Kentucky and Chicago as originally planned. Sarah has landed financial help from Dollar General, a discount retail store chain.
"Dollar General's sponsorship of SFR for two races this year has energized my team," said Fisher, who has a best finish of third at Kentucky Speedway in 2000 with Walker Racing. "We're all excited to be racing for Dollar General. It's great to return to Kentucky with my own team. I've done well there in the past, and I believe I can do just as well or better with my own team behind me."
The Kentucky Indy 300 will be held on August 9: the Chicagoland Indy 300 will be held on September 7.
