Another Pole For Dixon
By Andrew Cutler August 9 2008
Maybe they need to change Scott Dixon's nickname from "the iceman" to "the pole man". During qualifying for Saturday evening's Meijer Indy 300, to be held at Kentucky Speedway, Dixon picked up his 6th pole position of the year. Panther Racing's Vitor Meira will start alongside in the second spot.

Heading into the the last four points-paying races of '08 (Surfer's Paradise will be an exhibition event) with a 65 point advantage in the championship chase, Dixon is hopeful that he can strengthen his advantage tomorrow. "Our race car is very similar to our qualifying setup. Hopefully we can lead a lot of laps, gain a lot of points and close in on that championship."

Here is the full starting grid for the race, which takes place at 6:30pm ET on Saturday:

In a unique twist on the usual scheduling order, the Firestone Indy Lights Series holds their 67 lap, 100 mile contest at Kentucky Speedway at 9:15pm on Saturday, AFTER the IndyCar event. Championship contenders Raphael Matos and Ana Beatriz will start from the pole & second spot, respectively. Points leader Richard Antinucci will start back in 10th.
