Championship Fight On Front Row
By Andrew Cutler August 30 2008
The math is pretty simple: If Helio Castroneves wants to keep his championship hopes alive past tomorrow, he must finish ahead of Scott Dixon. Helio did his best in qualifying today, putting his car on the outside of Row 1. There is only one problem: Dixon was the one driver who posted a faster qualifying time, & will start from the pole.

"I was pushing as hard as I could, but, unfortunately, we couldn't be able to put a better lap", the Penske driver said afterwards. "So, OK. Second is not bad. Actually, it's pretty good, and we're going to try to do everything we can to win the race."

For his part, Dixon is as worried about getting tangled up with the rest of the grid, who have nothing to lose at this point, as he is with keeping ahead of Helio. "There is going to be a lot of people trying different strategies to improve their positions. A lot of the guys and girls, eight to 10 starting spots back, are going to try some pretty crazy things. We'll keep our mind focused on the race and try to go for the win."

The race begins at 3:30pm ET on Sunday, 8/31.
