Lloyd Leaves Ganassi: HER To Follow?
By Andrew Cutler
June 11 2009
Target Chip Ganassi Racing test/development driver Alex Lloyd has parted ways with the powerhouse IndyCar squad, effective yesterday. After nearly two years working with Ganassi, the 2007 Firestone Indy Lights champion has only seen race day action in the last two Indy 500s. Lloyd cited the desire to land a more regular IndyCar ride as his reason for leaving.

Lloyd announced his move via his Twitter account."I need to explore my options and get into a race car and to do that I need to be a free agent. CGR have worked hard to find funding and I appreciate their efforts, I need to get back behind the wheel and this gives me my best chance."

It was also recently revealed that the makers of the energy drink HER, which was the sponsor on Lloyd's car at Indy this year, are exploring their options for a full time IndyCar sponsorship deal in 2010. Thus, followers of Lloyd's Twitter activities noted with interest the fact that the Englishman posted a "tweet" that endorsed the beverage AFTER announcing his departure from Ganassi.

Could it be that we will see "Pink Lloyd" - as he quickly became known at Indy this past May - again in the future? Only time will tell.
