Jarno ends his successful testing sequence for Lotus
By Naomi Willemsen
February 28 2010
Despite the change of weather Lotus Racing had yet another successful day in testing, with Jarno Trulli completing 102 laps on the damp track of Cataluña. The teams main aim to get a full race distance was reached as well as finalizing Jarno’s car set up for the first round of the 2010 F1 Championship.
The Italian drove his Lotus T127 to a final time of 1.25.059 - in a 9th place just in front of Saubers’ Kobayashi and Virgin’s Glock. Chief Technical Officer Mike Gascoyne is more than happy with the work they were able to do during Jarno’s two last test days.

“We successfully completed our whole program with the changeable conditions and have had two very useful days with Jarno in the car, with a very clear set up direction for him. Now we’re looking forward to further refining the balance of the car with Heikki Kovalainen.”

While being in front of the Virgin and Sauber for the day Trulli is aware of the fact that Lotus still have a long way to go, he said on Autosport.com

"We cannot be happy about the pace, but this is what we have at the moment so we have to deal with it," Trulli told "We have a lot of work to do.”

"We are short on time and everything had to be hurried up to get the car ready for testing and for Bahrain, so we can't really ask for any more from the team.

"We are ready to race, but I can't say we are ready to fight. Maybe with Virgin, but the rest are out of reach at the moment."

With only one day left to get ready for the season start, Heikki Kovalainen will take over Sunday to put the finishing touch to the car together with the Norfolk-based squad.
