Raikkonen

| It has been suggested that new Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen will be trying to be as much like Michael as he can. Not only will Kimi be assisted by Schumacher himself, the Finn will also be using the same squad of personnel the 7-Time World Champion used. The Scuderia's Team Principal Jean Todt, annonced the new relationship: "Kimi's team will be the one that was Michael's last year; there will be no modifications." There was never really any question about Raikkonen using Schumacher' engineers and Mechanics, as this is the usually custom in Formula 1. The thing which would seem to suggest that Kimi is trying to be like Michael is his entire attitude to his new team. There is no doubt that the Scuderia would be pushing Kimi to fill Michael's shoes perfectly as it is the logical move for them to maintain competitiveness and marketing value, on the same scale as Schumacher was placed. The downside to this is that the Finn will always be living in Michael's massive shadow, even if he proves to be far more successful at Ferrari than the 7-Time World Champion. Perhaps I am reading too much into this, but it is obvious that Kimi Raikkonen is being groomed to completely substitute in for Michael Schumacher, something that could turn out very badly (or very well) for Raikkonen. Only time will tell though. |
