Kimi Raikkonen French Grand Prix: 1st
"Finally the start worked for me which helped a lot. The car was good all the time, not exactly perfect but I was happy with it. I just had to keep up with Felipe because I knew I'd be stopping later and in the second stop I managed to get in front of him. I was a bit further behind than I wanted to be at the second stops so I had to push really hard and it worked out. I couldn't ask for more. We've had a bit of a hard time the past two months but I always expected that and it's a bit difficult when you don't get good results so we just worked hard to get the car right. We're still not right where we want to be but definitely a lo happier with the car since the last test."
Felipe Massa French Grand Prix: 2nd + 0'02.414
"I lost the race today because of the traffic. On the first stint I was supposed to be more than four seconds ahead of Kimi so it worked perfectly and I came out in front of him. Then in the second stint it was supposed to be the same, but I was so disappointed with the traffic and I lost too much time - you lose a lot of downforce behind other cars and unfortunately I lost victory because of that which is a shame because when I had clear air I was doing very quick laps.
Still I'm very happy for the team that we got our first one-two of the season and it's a great result given McLaren's position in the championship." This was certainly encouraging for the Scuderia, after several races of poor performances, taking such a dominant victory is very much a positive sign. Hopefully for the team's World Championship challenge, this result will not be a one off. If in fact Ferrari's form is here to stay, the Tifosi who blasted the Scuderia and specifically Raikkonen will certainly look ridiculous. |
