Ferrari Win Championship
After McLaren
Exclusion

The Scuderia Ferrari is almost certain to win the 2007 Constructors' Championship after McLaren was stripped of their points and excluded from the season for a massive breach of the regulations. Following the revelation of new evidence that McLaren not only stole and possessed copyrighted Ferrari material but also used the information to make modifications to their 2007 challenger, the team was heavily punished. A statement from the World Motor Sport Council read as such:

"The WMSC has stripped Vodafone McLaren Mercedes of all constructors' points in the 2007 FIA Formula One World Championshiop and the team can score no points for the remainder of the season .

Furthermore, the team will pay a fine equal to 100 million USD, less the FOM income lost as a result of the points deduction.
"

To add further insult to injury, no McLaren representitive will be able to stand on the podium to collect the Constructors' trophy should one of their drivers win any further races this season. The drivers themselves escaped without any penalty:

"Due to the exceptional circumstances in which the FIA gave the team's drivers an immunity in return for providing evidence, there is no penalty in regards to drivers' points."

This of course means Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen will still have to fight extremely hard to win the Drivers' title. Though Ferrari will only have to score five more points to win the Constructors' Championship from the BMW Sauber team. A formality at most.

This may be a dark day for motor sports, but in all cases, justice has prevailed. McLaren was guilty of industrial espionage and apparently the usage of technology stolen from another team and they have been rightfully punished for such.

Unfortunately, some would still blame Ferrari for bringing the sport into disrepute. This is quite frankly preposterous. Ferrari and the sporting nature of Formula 1 in general were violated by McLaren's actions and it was well within Ferrari and the WMSC's right to seek punishment for this. If anyone has damaged the sport, it is McLaren in their utterly despicable actions of violating the sport's regulations as well as national and internationl laws.

This may be a hollow victory for Ferrari, but ultimately justice has been served.
