New McLaren |
Both Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo and the team`s Technical Director Aldo Costa, claim the new McLaren MP4-23 could easily and likely does contain Ferrari elements. Despite the FIA stating the McLaren does not contain any Ferrari data and McLaren`s freeze on development of parts which did contain Ferrari information, the Scuderia is not so certain of the Woking based squad`s innocence. First, Luca di Montezemolo mentioned: "Whoever wins the title will do so either with a little bit of Ferrari or with a proper Ferrari. [The new McLaren] is a silver Ferrari." Costa continued, mentioning: "They [McLaren] got the opportunity to understand the benefits of our technical concepts. It is therefore my belief that Ferrari know-how has been incorporated into the new McLaren." Clearly there is still much uncertainty at Ferrari about the the legal status of the new McLaren MP4-23. Understandably so, as Ferrari always maintained McLaren used stolen data and they were proved correct when an ashamed Ron Dennis was forced to admit they had indeed engaged in industrial espionage and actions counter the sporting and technical regulations. Could McLaren be foolish enough to continue to use stolen Ferrari data? For the sake of the sport, hopefully not. |
