Stitch to Dragons
The rumour first began months ago, with the news that the regions would have to cut down on their number of non-Welsh qualified players, but after a WRU reprieve, it had looked as though the Australian fan favourite would see out the final year at Cardiff Arms Park, however that is no longer the case.
With the arrival of outside half cum centre Ceri Sweeney, plus the recent emergence of Jamie Roberts at inside centre, it's perhaps been deemed that Stitch is no longer required.
It means the likely centre partnership for next season will see Shanklin move to 12, with Jamie Robinson outside him, while other centre options include Sweeney, Hewitt, Gareth Thomas and Roberts.
His departure is the latest transfer disappointment following the arrivals of Sweeny, Mustoe and Brew in a very dull transfer period.
The Blues have their first home game of the new season, in a friendly against Northampton Saints on Friday August 29th, while there are away fixtures being arranged also.
Finally, the Blues Family Fun Day takes place this Sunday, 29th June, at the Arms Park from 12, and is a free event.
