After spending a great time in the USA prior to the race and the race weekend itself Michael Schumacher and his wife Corinna were glad to be going home to see their children and to spend some time being a family. Schumacher always enjoys his free time and with no testing for him this week he has the perfect chance to kick back and enjoy the family life.

“Before the grand prix, we spent a few days holiday horse riding which was good fun. Back home it will be time to entertain our children,” said the World Champion.

Having had time to reflect on the finish of the USGP Michael is not changing his words from those he said at the press conference directly after the race. It was a show of solidarity between the team mates. Schumacher does not worry about the win the team spirit shown was more important to him. The end has received mixed reactions as everything Michael does is scrutinised but he stresses he did not want to offend anyone in his actions.

“I have already explained everything at Indianapolis. I simply wanted to cross the line at the same time as Rubens. We have had a fantastic season together and we are such friends that it would have been the perfect symbol of our mutual respect. It was just like in the old days when one crossed the line together holding hands. Obviously that’s not possible in a Formula 1car but sure it’s possible to drive side by side. In the end, Rubens crossed the line fractionally ahead of me, I thought it was a really good thing. Rubens has helped me several times during this season and that’s why I think this was the perfect end. I certainly did not want to offend anyone. On the contrary, I felt that crossing the line together only proved our unity and team spirit.”
