Use KERS
In Melbourne

Ferrari has stated its cars will be equipped with the Kinetic Energy Recovery System for this weekend's race in Melbourne, Australia. If the systems works as intended, the F60 should gain up to a half a second per lap advantage, according to Felipe Massa. This is what the Brazilian had to say:

"KERS can give you a better lap. Depending on the track it could be two tenths to half a second. Imagine if the Brawn car is running with it, how quick they're going to be. At least with KERS onboard we can have a good start and fight with them lap-by-lap to be in front."

The only other team to have confirmed the system for Australia has been Renault, with BMW still contemplating. The system has proven to be difficult to master and a potential danger for mechanics and track officials. The risk of electrical shop is significant, though perhaps not severe. Regardless, it would seem as though Ferrari sees a greater benefit in the systems extra performance possibilities than in the risks of the system.
