Bourdais was looking for other drives for 2009

Sebastien Bourdais has confirmed that he was looking to go back to America for the 2009 season whilst Scuderia Toro Rosso were confirming their drivers for this year.

Whilst facing an uncertain future in 2009 during the offseason winter testing period and facing rumours that he might loose his seat to any number of drivers, including Takuma Sato or Jenson Button, and despite having winter test sessions, Bourdais was looking for a drive in America.

With Scuderia Toro Rosso announcing their 2009 driver line up in February and the confirmation that Bourdais will drive alongside Buemi, Bourdais revealed just how close he was going back to America.

“It's been a very long and difficult winter, no need to deny that. It's never easy when you are left uncertain for so long.

At some point I was not hoping so much anymore; I was just trying hard to get a seat, in particular in the States. In the end Toro Rosso came back to us before anything in the States was completed, so here I am!"
