Toyota Motorsport Festival, Fuji
By Luke Marc Carlile-Stanton
November 23 2009
Toyota announced last month that they would be pulling out of Formula One. Since entering the sport in 2002, Toyota scored podium places, pole positions, fourth in the Constructors Championship in 2005 but not a race win. This is what Toyota craved most and after the failure to capture that the team announced they would be leaving the sport at the end of this season. Toyota has many fans around...

...the world and at Fuji Speedway yesterday the team bid farewell to Formula One.

Drivers Jarno Trulli and Kamui Kobayashi were in attendance as was Toyota supported driver Kazuki Nakajima.

Timo Glock was not in attendance. The German driver did not take part in the final two races of the 2009 season for Toyota after injury during Qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix forced him to finish his 2009 season early.

Glock has been confirmed as a driver for the new Manor Grand Prix team next season.

Jarno Trulli has tested a NASCAR Toyota Camry for Michael Waltrip Racing since the season ended. Jarno however did it for fun and is set to remain in Formula One next season.

Kamui Kobayashi impressed with his drives for Toyota in the final two races of the 2009 season in Brazil and Abu Dhabi. The Japanese driver was expected to be announced as a driver for Toyota in 2010 but his future is unclear.

The same goes for fellow Japanese and Toyota supported driver Kazuki Nakajima. He spent 2008 and 2009 driving for Williams who used Toyota engines. But since the team switched to Cosworth engines for 2010 his future has been up in the air, and after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix it was announced Rubens Barrichello and Nico Hulkenberg would drive for Williams next season. Nakajima has now put his negoiations for next season in the hands of Toyota.
