After a
relatively successful 2009 season the Williams team is looking to improve on
this with their 2010 challenger the FW32. The new car is expected to be very
new on the aerodynamic front as the team looks to return to securing race
victories.
In
an interview for the Autosport Magazine Williams Technical director Sam
Michael said that the team's new car would be very much brand new but using
the developments that had been used on the FW31.
Michael said: "The FW32 is a clean-sheet design from front to back. It's
pretty much brand new from an aerodynamic point of view."
"The fact that we had a consistent car across all of the tracks in 2009, and
wiped out a lot of the vices that we had in the previous car, gives us
confidence."
Michael also spoke of his confidence that with Rubens Barrichello and Nico
Hulkenberg the team has a strong driver line-up for 2010.
Michael added: "Rubens is quite a demanding guy, in a positive way, because
he wants to achieve things quickly. He is unlikely to be around in five
years' time because of his age and has a sense of urgency about him."
As for GP2 champion Nico Hulkenberg he came to the Williams team with a very
good reputation and has used that to good effect to move from test driver to
full time race driver within the Williams team.
Michael said: "The amount of pushing Nico is doing will be good for Rubens.
Nico has been quick since he started at Williams and he's been pushing
himself very hard." |
