Williams
F1 loses title sponsor? |
| |
|
The Williams F1
team signed a multiyear deal with the telecom company AT&T, with the
Williams team then becoming known as the AT&T Williams F1 Team. This
arrangement commenced in 2007 and now with the end of the 2011 Formula One
season there are indications that this sponsorship may have come to an end.
On the Williams teams official web site the logo of AT&T Williams has
disappeared to be replaced with the Williams F1 logo. Also on the bottom of
the official page the reference to AT&T has been removed. The same change
has taken place on the teams Facebook web site where the AT&T Williams logo
has also disappeared. Also links to another web site http://youratt.com/attwilliams
that dealt with the AT&T Williams sponsorship now take you to a generic AT&T
site. Also on the Williams site the link to the teams Partner site is
indicating that it is offline while updates are carried out. Is this another
indication of changes taking place at Williams on the sponsorship front. But
on the teams media web site there is still reference to AT&T but this may
have yet to be updated.
Is this arrangement temporary with the Williams team set to make an
announcement as to a new title sponsor when they announce their second
driver or when they launch their 2012 car. Two potential drivers for the
team are Sutil and Senna and both would bring potential sponsorship from
Medion and Embratel which could replace A&T.
After several
years of sponsorship it would not be surprising to see AT&T ends its
sponsorship. Now it is a case of awaiting confirmation from Williams as to
who the 2012 title sponsor will be, if any.
After much media
discussion tt was eventually confirmed by the Williams team that they had in
fact lost AT&T as their title sponsor but that they were in negotiations
with another sponsor to replace them. |
