Weather Cold and sunny
Ambient & track temps -2 - 17ºC / 0 - 26ºC
After a
productive third day the Williams F1 team would get the fourth day of their
Jerez test underway with Bruno Senna again behind the wheel. On a very cold
day Bruno would go out for his installation lap, returning to the track for
a short run setting times in the high 1m:27s. He would pit to return for
just a handful of laps setting a best time of 1m:23.217. His next series of
laps would see him complete seven laps. His next two runs would be very long
and by the third hour Bruno would have completed fifty laps. His times at
this point were in the 1m:25s as he would pit after having completed a
twenty five lap run.
On his next long run he would set a time of 1m:22.394. After this his times
would drop into the 1m:23s and 1m:24s. He would pit again after having
completed a total of eighty two laps. It looked very much like the team was
conducting race simulations with the new FW34. He would return to the track
and on this run his times would drop down into the 1m:21s but on lap eighty
five he would set a 1m:20.132. This series of laps would see him pit after
twelve laps. On his return to the track he would complete one shorter runs
with times in ranging from the low 1m:25s through to the 1m:24s.He would pit
and then return to the track to commence another longer run.
It was during this time that Bruno would be forced to pull off the track at
the Senna Chicane with some suggestions having him run out of fuel. His car
would be returned to the pits on the back of a flatbed truck.
After his small issue everything would go well for Bruno as he continued to
work through the teams test programme. With just over an hour remaining
Bruno had completed one hundred and fifteen laps as he continued on his way.
He would complete further laps with his times in the high 1m:23s to 1m:24s.
One hundred and twenty laps from Bruno as he pitted with an hour remaining.
The time sheets would see Alonso quickest with a 1m:18.877. But on his next
run things would go wrong for Bruno as he would stop his cat at Turn two
after having what seemed like backing off as he went past the pits
apparently aware that he had another issue. His car would again be returned
to the pits with it been unsure as to whether he would return to the track
with just a half an hour remaining.
Mark Gillan, Chief Operations Engineer: We had a very productive day, with
Bruno successfully completing a full race simulation this morning and
performance development testing during the afternoon. On the whole this has
been a good first test for the FW34 and we have learnt a great deal about
the new car. I'd like to thank the whole team for their massive effort this
week.
Bruno Senna: It’s been another productive day with us testing a number of
different set-up directions and finding out a lot more about the car. The
car has continued to show good reliability as we completed 124 laps today,
which is very satisfying. I’m happy to have started my first two days in the
car for Williams on a very good note.
The Williams F1 Team will be back on track to continue pre-season testing at
the Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona from 21 – 24 February. |
