The opening Friday practice session for the 2017 British GP would be an eventful one for the Williams Martini team with both drivers suffering issues with their cars that would see in the case of Lance Stroll the floor to be removed. For Felipe Massa he would run over the kerbs damaging the underneath of his car. Both cars would be repaired and with the end of the session Felipe would finish in 9th while Lance was 15th. Both drivers would focus on the soft tyre for the session but in Felipe's case many of those in front of him were on the super soft tyre.
