Hungarian GP: Williams Martini still struggling in FP3

The Williams Martini team would continue to see their Hungaraian GP weekend be a very difficult one. After the final practice session their cars were only 17th and 18th. Felipe Massa would lead team-mate Lance Stroll but for Felipe his weekend was made even worse due to an illness that saw him attend the hospital on Friday. Felipe would again feel unwell in this session and there were reports that he will be replaced by reserve driver Paul Di Resta for the rest of the weekend. A very difficult weekend for the Williams team.

Martini Hungarian GP Saturday Practice
Team Summary:
Both Williams drivers would complete their installation laps on the medium
tyre. After the initial series of runs it would be Vettel quickest with a
1m:17.790 followed by Raikkonen, Verstappen, Bottas, Hamilton, Hulkenberg,
Ocon, Kvyat, Palmer and Perez tenth. Both of the Mercedes were out on the
soft tyre while Alonso went sixth. Ricciardo was out for his first run on
the super soft tyre and would set a 1m:18.849 to be fourth. With close to
thirty minutes completed the Williams drivers were down in fifteenth and
seventeenth with both on long runs on the super soft tyre. Ricciardo would
move up to third but would stop at the side of the road with a gear change
issue.
Drivers would start to complete qualifying simulations and it would be
Vettel who would go even quicker with a 1m:17.017, a new track record.
Raikkonen was second with a 1m:17.492 followed by Bottas and a stopped
Ricciardo. Hamilton would move up to fourth but 1.4 seconds off Vettel's
time. With the end of the session the order was Vettel, Raikkonen, Bottas,
Verstappen, Hamilton, Vandoorne, Hulkenberg, Ricciardo, Alonso, and Palmer
tenth. The Williams drivers would finish in seventeenth and eighteenth in
what was turning out to be a weekend to forget.
Felipe Massa:
Felipe would go out on medium tyres for his installation laps completing
three before pitting. For Felipe he had visited a hospital after feeling
unwell after Friday practice. He was declared fir for Saturday practice
after which he will be checked again. Felipe would also come out on the
super soft tyre setting a 1m:20.323 which would see him drop to eleventh.
Felipe would improve with a 1m:20.255 to be tenth. This would become twelfth
with thirty five minutes remaining. He would pit having done an eleven lap
run currently fifteenth. It was confirmed that Felipe would not be coming
back out again due to his illness. Felipe would drop to seventeenth with the
session end. There were rumours seeing Paul Di Resta, team reserve driver,
taking over from Felipe for the rest of the weekend. Felipe's car was on the
stands with the mechanic's working on it possibly making changes for Di
Resta.
Lance Stroll:
Lance would also use the medium tyre for his installation lap but he would
pit and then return on the super soft tyre. With nearly twenty minutes of
the session completed Lance would finally set a time with a 1m:20.591 to
currently be ninth. Lance would drop to thirteenth as the session progressed
despite having improved with a 1m:20.388. Lance had also dropped down the
times to be fourteenth. Lance would also complete an fourteen lap run on the
super soft tyre pitting to join his team-mate. Lance would drop to
seventeenth and with just over ten minutes remaining Lance would come back
out. But despite a run on a new set of super soft tyres he would remain in
eighteenth only just improving with a 1m:20.379.
