5:30 Am but it's our new year holiday here so it's ok.

1.24.2 best laptime of 2017, 1.22.2 pole postion.

I think this year there's a second atleast to gain.

Oh . . I have video too now . . . so, Paul di Resta still has a job with Sky . . .

I live in Perth which is behind the time in Melbourne by 3 hours.

Well, looks like a nice day in Melbourne . . . Sergei out early . . . di Resta saying the mood in Williams garage is a little downbeat

Aren't we going to get live counter for timing? No sector times, no nothing, just when the lap is done, it shows the final time...stupid.

Williams drivers 10th and 13th with Sergey ahead. Nice surprise from the Russian.

Morning. 2.47am here in the UK.

I think the car looks good. Times don't say that but I think it looks good on the track. Especially on corner exit. It appears a little clumsy on entry. So maybe a little more front wing development will unlock this car.

But i would like to think we have a stronger race car than we think.

I agree. Friday is always a day where its hard to assess the performance from Williams. Nice surprise to see Sirotkin ahead of Stroll. Maybe the view of having Kubica and Sirotkin in the team may have been the right way to go.

We never test as well as we race

Not optimistic.

Sirotkin hitting the barriers in pit entry was the highlight

It's not pretty to be 2s slower than Hamilton. I'd previously just looked at the positions

Re: Australian GP - Friday Practice
Andrew Hooper 23 March, 2018 04:18
But we are not the only one's so far off the pace. But it is only the first session so early days.

Re: Australian GP - Friday Practice
Andrew Hooper 23 March, 2018 04:51
Second session and now we should get a better feel for pace from Williams.

These teams are so proffesional that you don't expect they take a hugely different approach to a test session or a practice session.you can't expect that and last couple of years prove that easily...We nearly finished on identical positions in FP sessions, Quali and Race like most of the grid.

So I think we are off the pace of Renault, Mclaren and Haas and that means points are not possible unless something strange happens.

Off to bed.

Williams love to run practices with the engine turned down. It looks like everything from 18th to 8th could be covered by all those teams after fp1 and fp2.
