Sorry I have changed as a person through several personal tragedies, I’m better for it, and I don’t need someone who doesn’t know me taking the high and mighty approach on a computer Keyboard berating everyone not nodding along with him.
I wish you well, here and in life, but I don’t want to debate this with you any more
You're right Stuart, I don't know you. I'm nevertheless still sorry for you for the terrible things you have undergone in your life. Sincerely.
The "change" that you mentioned and that I referenced, however, was not change in you, but change in the disposition by white society in general toward people of other races as evident in your children. If they are in fact not racist, great--good for them and good for you. Again, however, individuals not having personal animus against people of other races does not mean racial oppression and inequality are solved. It's well and good, for sure, but it's far from the end of the story.
Further, I think your willingness to countenance ill-conceived dismissals of the whole problem of systematic racism (Ian 's posts) and expressions of outrage at peaceful demonstrations against racism (Ozzy's), while you go out of your way to oppose those who respond critically to their posts, suggests that we still have a ways to go even in many people's outlooks. Why do you find their far from modest or conciliatory initial rants fine, but responses to them seem to you bullying? What does that say about your views?
In any case, I'll say it again: If anyone here (including you) doesn't want their views on such things as racism, protests against it, or the disposition F1 and many drivers are taking toward them to be subjected to any criticism, they can simply keep those views to themselves. If you want to express such views only to people who agree with you, go to the pub with your like-minded mates! Hold forth on a publicly accessible web forum, however, and you are asking for a response.
I didn't instigate any of this. Most of those whom I have addressed at all on the issue have in fact ranted on the issue and/or taken shots at me first. Many of them have not been remotely polite. I am not the bully here, I'm just not going to be bullied.
Lewis Hamilton may not yet be the most powerful advocate for social change, but I think he's getting better at it and I too admire him for his willingness to try. If you're in the UK, here's an extended interview in which he explains his recent embrace of the Black Lives Matter movement. Perhaps some of you would find views similar to those I have been trying to articulate more palatable when coming from him:

There is no racism in me my friend. My objection is to the BLM movement and the simps, fools and cowards backing it up. It's disgusting. It's founded by a bunch of marxist loons, probably the same as Extinction and Occupy etc. with Soros money and that is my problem. I have already said that were I to have a DNA test I would likely come out darker than my skin tone. I really don't care. I understand Lewis' message. I see a paddock full of white men. The reasons are many and varied ad I get the frustration and I do support positive action over time to change things but it will take a hell of a time and that's OK. It will have to start at the education level which is currently run by marxist loons as well. I left the topic alone as Andrew Hooper suggested subtly that I did. Fair enough, not my site. But don't you dare brand me a racist just because I won't get on my knee for people who want to destroy our economy, our society and our justice system. Simply not going to happen and they simply won't succeed.
Quote:I think his ego is having the best of him. Next year with the same regulations Renault will not be in the position to be competitive for wins and in 2022 he will be 41 anyways. Unless they make a dominant car (and his teammate is average..) I don't see him becoming world champion again.

Thank you everyone here for making my point for me. Ozzy posts this racist (as well as anti-Semitic and probably a bit drunken) rant that definitely includes personal attacks (I am obviously a supporter of BLM) and not one of you raises any objection to it.
"I do support positive action over time to change things but it will take a hell of a time and that's OK." --OK for whom, Ozzy?
"I won't get on my knee for people who want to destroy our economy, our society and our justice system. " No one has asked you to. Harboring paranoid fantasies, are you, that Black people are out to oppress you? Also, who is included in the "our" you refer to here, Ozzy? If you regard Black people as proper and full members of our society, why wouldn't you say "their" economy, "their" society, "their" justice system? Why do you posit them as some entirely external force attacking you and what is yours?
You are a bigot. You just don't have the courage to admit it.
Race has absolutely nothing to do with DNA, by the way. It was invented by Europeans (in the late 15th century, coinciding with their "discovery" of the Americas by Europeans--long before the discovery of DNA) in order to justify their enslavement and exploitation of peoples they could then regard as members of different and subordinate categories--categories that they put them in. There is zero biological basis for those divisions. Their effects--differential levels of wealth. access to educational and other resources, varying racialized identities, etc. --are not in any way the product of biology, but of over 500 years of their use as an organizing principle in European societies and the societies produced by their colonial conquests (e.g. the US).
Lastly, it's very clear that you don't have the vaguest idea what Marxism is, and wouldn't know a Marxist if one bit you in the ass. George Soros? Not a Marxist! He is a Jew, though, which is surely what you meant anyway.

Fernando going to Renault...
Williams drop Mercedes or 2022 - Racing Point \ Aston are the B Team, we're clearly out of favour (Rokit). We go to to Renault for 2022 as effectively their B Team, where they can place their favoured Academy Drivers. We get Zhou for 2022 as Russell goes to Mercedes. Any takers for this scenario?
Quote:It's so sad that anyone here even considers becoming the B Team of a team whose last podium in F1 was several years ago (more time ago than Williams' last podium!) as a viable option for Williams.jonnybario

GR mentioned that he was thankful to have back to back races at this track, as it gave Williams a chance to try something “drastic”. Any thoughts on what that might be? Maybe they went really aggressive in one direction on set up.
