Apparently there won't be any new parts in Hungary, so the team will focus on optimizing the existing package. Hopefully they glue the parts on properly this time around.

I've heard differently. I've heard there will be updates but not as obvious as the ones in the last 2 races.

By the sound of it they need to focus on strengthening the floor anyway so anything else right now is irrelevant

Mike,
You're better informed than I am - I was quoting RK on this one:

("Nothing new in the car for Hungary, but expecting loads of Polish fans. I invite everyone to come")

Yes I have heard that there will be updates for Hungary. But the team is been quite tight lipped about what is coming.

I imagine the Hungary updates will be track specific, so we may see a re-appearance of the T wing just over the top of the gear box, or a monkey seat, if they are both still allowed.

Updated bolts and fasteners, for sure. Metal instead of plastic

Metal? Car is slow as it is.

As I remember, Newey's early Red Bull cars fell apart regularly until the team got the knack of building light parts that didn't break. There was a thread on here about it. 'Superneweyfragilisticextradodgyosus'.

That was funny and a fitting reply to plastic parts that are connected together using nuts and bolts.

Cartoonish visions of FW42 shedding parts until it's just Kubica floating by holding the steering wheel.

The build quality has been terrible... Not running over curbs, compromised running, inconclusive test mileage, all that. We saw it in the first test and now again with the updates. And I seriously doubt they're going for a Newey-esque weight-saving solution... the new parts look chunky compared to other teams (my opinion).

And it's not as if they forgot how to tighten a bolt all of a sudden, right? Just hang a "Righty Tighty / Lefty Loosey" banner in the garage and that's that. Solved.

In reality it's just poor design. Bad engineering. Sloppy and careless. And it's painful to watch. Embarrassing.

A counter point for my last post - hasn't the car reached the end of every race this season? Very reliable in race trim. Hmmm....

cant tell until you fight for positions and push it to the very limit, driving last without any chance to gain position you can sacrifice race pace to get the car to the chequered flag

Not the first time we've seen this, different members of the team saying different things. Goes to show the communication clearly isnt where it should be even after what happened in pre season testing.

The only way there aren't updates on the car is if they managed to bring them forward to germany. I think their most pressing concern will be making the floor/bargeboards more able to handle their loads as it's no good that George's new floor was damaged on an installation lap.

"Euro Family" logo on the nose.

Btw Mike both floors were damaged on the instalaltion laps - Georges while he ran over some debris and Robert's on the kerb (plus some more pieces fell off from the car on that lap). Hard to believe things like that are still happening after 11 races.

Yeah but kubicas was able to be repaired and raced from what I understand. George's was a write off.

I get the frustration in a way but actually it is a completely new floor with different loads so I'm personally not surprised given everything else that's happened this year. Not happy, but not surprised

I must admit that I do find it hard to understand sometime why we get a different version of things depending on who you talk to at Williams.

RK has said that there are no new parts while Dave Robson says there are. They do need to get their talking points better sorted out.

Probably RK doesn't treat some parts as new like a T-wing which are track specific. Dave Robson said they would have new items for Monaco when in reality these were only modifications specific to Monaco track.
