SPA will be interesting - overall its low drag track but 2nd sector can tell you a lot about aero efficiency

Sector 2 very true agree.

Lets hope they let George try a few more set up directions and he finds a bit more
from this first big upgrade,an extra .5 in race trim would be good plus they need to make the softer tires last longer on the heavy fuel stints.

I am guessing we have to wait 2 more races before the next big upgrade??.
it is signed off just needs to be made.

The pain in the butt is simply Spa and Monza never reflect the rest of the seasons tracks. It are two really strange tracks after the summer break. So it is quite hard to draw any conclusions. The second sector at Spa itself is no good benchmark either.

Next few races are Spa* and Monza*, that are even less representative than Hungary

A good point. Forget the year now, but at Monza our friend Fisi came very close to scoring a win for Force India. It will be interesting of course, because Paddy's concept was to have a car that performed reasonably well at all circuits. The Coughlan car was very dependent upon scoring big on certain tracks.

It was Spa, not Monza. 2009. Super close year. smiling smiley Spa in particular. It had 15 cars in 0.6 secs in Q1.

And that Force India was not a bad car. It started the year at the back of the grid but after the Spa breakthrough the car kept performing well. Sutil qualified P2 at Monza, P4 at Suzuka and P3 at Interlagos.

Oh, cheers Anderis. Yes, Force India were indeed quite hot to go. In the whole of VJs ownership, they never seemed to have any money at the start of the season but always finished well.

Spa and Monza may not be the most representative of tracks but I am still hoping to see improvements in the gap to the midfield. I will be interested to hear Latifi's comments after FP1 as to whether he judges the car as been an improvement over what it was like the last time he drove it.

Honda is giving Red Bull their latest engine spec at Monza as well. So essentially nothing changes.

Gap to Q2 in Belgium does not look that bad in % as it is in seconds, but to PP is bad again

Big PP could be explained by the fact that Russel like most of the other drivers did not have second timed lap in Q1.

Gunk 31 August, 2019 19:10
Isn't it the longest track on the calendar?

yes it is, but Greg_ORs graph is in % of lap time, so the leanght of the circuit is not relevant.

Surprising Renault did so well, maybe improvements from their new spec engine I think they had. Can’t believe our low downforce low drag development was sacrificed for a car that is now low downforce high drag.

Hope we have some updates for Singapore and get closer to the pack again, Monza could be grim as Merc don’t have a power advantage anymore to help.

Haha, low down force high drag is pathetically accurate.

I hope we get the next big update at the next race now.
They should have had enough time to construct the new parts.
